What would an Efreeti exchange for a wish?

I think that the movie Wishmaster did a good job of portraying an efreeti and the handling of wishes.

I caught part of it on TV. The problem with it was they didn't twist the wishes. The monster did something sort of related to the wish, but it wasn't an overly legalistic interpretation.

Efreet adore twisting any wishes they grant if they can at all possibly get away with it, using the letter of the law to their advantage. They're like Baatezu-lite (and the baatezu have some rather heavy dealings with them).

If PCs manage to finagle a wish out of one of them, be sure to have the genie in question have his own fun at their expense. Even if they purchase a wish rather than force it out of an Efreeti, you can bet he'll still try to warp the outcome against them; they enjoy the heck out of doing that.

IMC, when you cast a Wish or limited wish, if you're using it as an actual "wish" (rather than just replicating a spell of a lower level), the spell actually summons a random creature capable of fulfilling the wish.

Then, depending on who (what) you get, they fulfill the wish to the best of their ability. Particularly excessive wishes, or overly complicated ones might require favors or payments in the form of magic items.

Then why not just use Gate? By the rules of the spell, Efreets are required to grant you three wishes for free.

No no, a fire flavored ice cream cone!

If you want to be diabolical, make it a favor... to be named at a future date...

And then just wait for the absolute worst time to call it in.
