What would Gary do?

ASSUMING the quote about "let them play their little game" is accurate, the wrong is the dismissiveness and condescension.
I erred in making it look like a quote; my point was merely that the question was dodged in such a manner. And while I've certainly got my conclusions as to Mr. Gygax's character, I'd advise against basing your own conclusions on mine. I'm simply not interested enough in his doings to be an ironclad source for information on the subject.

Purely hypothetical as he no longer has any say in what happens to the game he created...What would Gary do to update to 4E?

Would he bring back old elements or theoretically would he take it in an entirely new direction?

jh

Gary, with the help of the other Vice Presidential Action Rangers, would destroy 4E with his morningstar +1 to save the space-time continuum.

A favorite of mine and still relevant even years later:

Gary Gygax Interview part 1

Gary Gygax Interview part 2

Check out part 2 bottom of page 2 to see how he felt about 3E, and how close it is to what is being said about 3E today... the man is not only a genius, he is precognitive.

The relevant part from the interview:

"The new D&D is too rule intensive. It's relegated the Dungeon Master to being an entertainer rather than master of the game. It's done away with the archetypes, focused on nothing but combat and character power, lost the group cooperative aspect, bastardized the class-based system, and resembles a comic-book superheroes game more than a fantasy RPG where a player can play any alignment desired, not just lawful good."

Love that quote!

Wow that brings back memories.....that really was in the DMG wasn't it? Or at least something similar? It's been along time but wow does that bring back memories of my original DMG.
