As far as reactions went during the session to clarify:Sounds like this is a moot point, since the guy's gotten the boot, but I'd take this as a warning sign, though. If the other players thought the interaction was fun, maybe it's you who was over-reacting.
And be careful reading too much into all these militant responses you get here. I wouldn't take that as justification for anything. Either way, it's a bit hard to tell what the interaction was really like without being there, but I'm getting kinda mixed messages from your various descriptions of it.
I've noticed in the past that some folks here get really militant and harsh about the very idea of player vs player conflict, but you should happily ignore them if it's something that your group is having fun with. Same with the "that's not CN, that's EVILLLL!!!!" cries.
Monk - Didn't want anyone to be fighting, but didn't do anything to stop it either, saw the prank unfolding, and let it play out. (Got into small argument with Thief about what to do with Wizard after he was knocked unconscious, wanted to wake the Wizard back up w/o being tied up first to get a promise of peace and no more in-party fighting.)
Thief - Upset at the Wizard for attacking my Cleric, but didn't stop in to do anything, saw the prank unfolding and laughed in the background. (Wanted to tie up the wizard and then wake him up afterwards.)
Paladin - Stepped in to defend my cleric and was the only one who didn't see the prank going on with his very low perception roll. (Wanted to hold a trial for the Wizard and decide his fate with the majority deciding what to do with him, wanted him tied up and gagged prior to waking him up.)
Druid - Saw the prank unfolding, was trying to come in to step between the Wizard and Cleric saying that he wanted peace in the camp and no fighting. (Wanted to wake the Wizard w/o being tied up and get a promise of peace from him.)
My Cleric - Was trying to do an "eye for an eye" type of thing and thought it would be a funny prank to pull on a fellow party member, something that he felt was light-hearted and innocent. Decided on the fate of the wizard, saying that he would be fine with the wizard staying alive and in party if we got a promise from him not to attack anyone else, also promised that he wouldn't pull any more pranks on the wizard after the fiasco that happened.
Wizard (Player kicked from group) - Player looked angry and his character didn't even promise not to attack anyone else, just shrugged and had his character walk off to the other side of the camp as if he didn't care one way or the other.
As stated, this was all a moot point since the player has been kicked from the group, but I wanted to just let you and everyone else know what the reactions where from the PCs in the group. I never had any qualms against the Wizard IC or OOC prior to this and felt like I role-played it out pretty well considering the circumstances, just wondered what everyone else would have done in the situation since I've never had an intra-party conflict like this in 10+ years of gaming where I was personally involved as one of the PC's, I've DM'd games where the party had the classic LG Paladin and NE Thief and the Paladin finds out the Thief was up to no good and decided to get rid of him.
