What would you give a 13th level Wizard

I was thinking about these while pretending to work:

-One of those metamagic rod things from Tome and Blood (or was it MoF).
-Ring of Wizardy
-Robe of Archmagi
-Ioun Stone or two
-Cloak of Resistance

Lots of scrolls for spells.....
Maybe a staff, but those are expensive

I might give the guy a item creation feat, most likly staff or wand

It wasnt stated that this was an NPC until after I posted, not that that matters as I can't find anywhere in the DMG that states it's any different.
I have the books here with me at work, but dont have the time to thourghly look into the subject.

The fighter, who also happens to be a dark elf. This guy is a pure meat shield for the party. :) I am actually running the fighter, I just wanted to pursue the mighty intellect of this board to see what yall could come up with.

The other wizard is the big damage type wizard, I was going to go a different route with this npc.

Which PC's cohort and what is that PC like? It's good to have a cohort that can do some of the things a PC cannot do themselves. :)

Headband of Int +4 or +6.

I would seriously consider a Cloak of Displacement. There is a limit to how much you can improve the AC, at a certain point you are much better off going for a miss percentage than more AC.

Bracers of Armor and Amulet of Natural Armor are typical. I don't know if you can afford the Robe of Arch Magi, as I recall that is quite pricey.

Definately provide a metamagic rod, personally I would be going for Silent Spell.

Vest or Belt of Spell Resistence is also very nice.

On the relatively cheap end of things:

A wand of Magic Missle for when things get boring and he just wants to plink into combat.

A variety of special purpose scrolls (Dimensional Anchor, Protection from Evil, that sort of thing).

Some sort of extradimensional space, big enough to hold his stuff but not so large that the whole group wants to put stuff in it. I suggest the smallest Bag of Holding or Heward's Handy Haversack. Makes your life easier, as it simplifies encumberance.
