What would you pay for a custom dog coat?

How much more would you pay for a custom fitted dog coat?

Assuming you had a dog, and assuming you were already inclined to buy a coat for your dog, of either the "horse blanket" or "back velcroed" style, how much extra would you pay for a coat that was custom fitted to your dog, in a choice of say 5-7 colors?

Oh, I misunderstood your tagline: "What would you pay for a custom dog coat?"

I thought you were asking how much I'd pay for a nice coat custom-tailored from a dog. I could imagine such a thing fetching a nice price!

Imagine a duster crafted from a Dalmation! Or how about smartly-tailord waist-length jacket sporting hide harvested from a brindle-coated Mastiff.

Let me pose a question and attach it to this thread for anyone else who misunderstood its meaning in a fashion after mine:

If you could have a coat made from a dog, what sort of coat and what sort of dog would you choose?

I'd probably guess about $5, but it may be more. Judging from my mother's circle of friends, there are a lot of people out there who like to use their pets as dolls.

:uhoh: For a minute there I thought you were asking how much I would pay for a coat made from puppies. :)

I've seen 101 Dalmations 101 too many times...

Frighteningly, that's what I thought as well...

Better hope PETA doesn't get wind of this...

Not that I have a dog, but I'd just make a coat for my dog. Or get a friend to make a coat for my dog (my friends are more crafty that I am :uhoh: )

If I did want to just pay for one, I'd be willing to pay $10 extra, though. Maybe a smidge more too.

I think dogs with coats and sweaters are absolutely ridiculous. However, I have a Boston Terrier that is increadibly sensitive to heat and cold... once winter hits, I'll no doubt have to buy him something to keep him warm on cold morning walks. I'd definately pay $10 extra dollars if it fit nicely. :)

I have no Dog.

I do not plan to ever own a dog (too much time/responsibility; ya gotta train dogs to really make them great pets).

However, I see 3 different markets for doggy-coats.

1. Dogs as Fashion Accesories. These are usully those litte rat-things that you alwasy see celebs toting around. These people will pay big bucks for doggy items. It's almost like these little rats are psuedo-children. I know one woman who only waters her pomerainian with Bottled Water.

These people will pay for fitted coats. They'll pay more for 'cute' clothes.

2.Those dogs that will die if let out. These are more of the rat-things or dogs native to a warm environment, but whose owners live in Maine (or any place with a severe winter). I know somebody whose got a little fuzzy-rat thing (not a Chiuahua, but about that size) who had to take a break from gaming to put a coat & boots on the dog to let it outside to do its business when we were over in January. (Apparently even 5 minutes in freezing weather could kill the dog from exposure.

These peopl will pay for doggy-coats. More it they go on/off fast.

3. Lastly, hunting dogs. I know some hunters who treat their bird hounds better than their kids (they almost cost as much). A trained bird hound ain't cheap. These guys will pay for a good, no-nosense waterproof durable well-fitted coat that will allow their dog to move freely while hunting & not snag.
