What's in the 30 years of D&D book?

I recognize about three names on that list. Does that make me hopelessly out of touch, or is that just not an impressive list of "celebrities".

I suspect the answer is: Yes.

What did they mention in the section "Into the Future"?

It pretty much is just covering how WotC got into making some of the D&D video games like Neverwinter Nights and D&D Heros. Additionally they talk about "Challenging Perceptions" by publishing suppliments such as The Book of Vile Darkness since in the past TSR had been accused of "dumbing down" D&D. The book ends with Hasbro buying WotC in 2001.

Not what I thought would be in that section, but it does follow right after their discusion of Third Edition, so I guess it does make some sense.

Huh. I thought there would at least be something on the release of 3.5E.

What does the book sell for, retail price, again?

If Sherman Alexie's on the list, it's all good

Lone Ranger & Tonto's Fistfight in Heaven, Smoke Signals, The Business of Fancydancing, it's all good :)

i recognize Vin Diesel and Wil Wheaton. but that's it.

well... John Rogers... but only as an ENWurld member.

still don't think any of them qualify as true D&D celebs.

Oh I'd love to have it. Then again, I am assuming that this book is kind of a history of D&D or something along those lines. I hope I will have the ability to flip through it before I can buy it to make sure it is something I want.

Well, in the intro they say it is a celebration of D&D and not a history of D&D, but having history in such a book is inevitable. From what I have read, there is a lot of...background...on D&D.

As for being able to flip through the book, all the copies I saw at Waldenbooks were shrink wrapped.
