Why so many classes? Wouldn't a straight Wizard be able to make any magic item anyway? Surely a Wish spell could mimic other classes spells, no? Grant it, they'd be Arcane and not Divine.

Many of those classes were "quick dip at the trot" affairs, to grab anotehr domain or prestige domain (some spells show up ONLY as a spell in a single domain ... !!!).

Also, Runes can not only hold divine spells (so Miracle, and the Anyspell / Greater Anyspell spells from the "Spell" domain become very important), you have to be able to cast 3d level divine spells to even take the feat!

[edit] Oh, by the way, UMD is also a class skill for Loremasters. Heh. [/edit]

You want to use wish to provide you with a spell you'll have to cast once per day? Imagine an Item with a market price of 20000gp. It would take you 20 days to create it. That would be 20 wish spells to emulate the spell 20 times. That would be 20 times 5000 xp, or 100.000 XP for the item - plus the 800 you pay for the creation

Isn't Miracle cool? :)

Oh yes! I hadn't noticed that until now (I'll start my first cleric - but on level 16 or so - in a couple of months. It's a solonor-worshipping archer as replacement for my ninja, since he'll have to leave the party - They'll return to the Realms, he to Rokugan). I'll definetly use miracle a couple of times.

Be an Eldrich Master and take cleric and druid spell lists. That should give you access to pretty much anything. You will need to go epic in order to get 9th level casting - but you will have access to almost any spell and you can use miracle and wish for any that you don't have.

Then just take item creation feats in order to make the items. Magical Artisan will help - especially with the more powerful item creation feats. Once you have qualified and taken enough leves from the eldrich master to max out - start taking levels of brewmaster - then you can make 9th level potions. Finally, take levels in candlecaster or spellsword to gain all of those alternative mediums, etc.

With about 50 levels you should be able to cast any spell with any magical item.

There really aren't any good arcane item creation prestige classes so straight wzard is the way t go. If your hell bent o doing everything yourself I'd say loremaster for UMD, so you can use scrolls etc from other class lists for tiem creation.

Primary thing is craft wonderous at 3 this is the big one it does virtually everything.

At 5th I'd take craft arms and armor, while lots of people like wands one I don't and two I think more permanent items fit a item creater specialist better.

9th take rods

12th take rings.

15th take staves

With bonus feats, and other feats I'd fill out the rest with metamagic that you think is appropriate to add to items. I like quicken so I can have items activated as a free action. I'd also take magical artisan to make thigns cheaper.

If you go epic, I'd take imprved metamagic about 3 times so any metafeat is only +1 level it will amke item creation cheaper. Also there is a feat so your int bonus is used to determine the save of your items, I'd take that as well.

Use Magic Device is also a class skill for some PrCs, like Loremaster. And hey, Loremaster should be REALLY easy for you to qualify for if you're taking item creation Feats.

It's also important to go Psion (Shaper, of course), and take the Crystalsinger PrC from the Mind's Eye. They're all about the item creation.

Oh, and I made a custom 5-level PrC for item creation a while back, throw something like that on too.
