what's on tap for spidey sequel

I hope they don't do Venom, or at least hold off for a long time. There are any number of other, more classic Spidey-villains to deal with. And, to be honest, most of them (including Mysterio)have more interesting psychologies and would make a more interesting story than Venom.

I, personally, would also prefer they not fall into the "need more villains per movie" trap. One well done villain beats two sketchily done villains any day of the week.

When they get it right in the comics, it's a shame that they feel the need to change it. Any other way will cheapen it for those of us who know how it truely happened.
Heh - thus spake the part-time comic geek. If you were a full-time comic geek, you'd know that the continuity has been revised so many times it doesn't really matter a damn anymore. ;)

That is true. I just really like the Secret Wars. Continutity does matter, that's one of the big problems with the comics.

But I'm not sure it really matters, sequals are usually worse (19 out of 20 I'd say) then the original.

I would also like to seen Venom in #2 as a main character. Too many of the villains in comics have poor motivations to do atrocious evil, but Venom has both motive to fight Spidey, and temperance against some of the more despicable villain plots.

With the emphasis the first movie placed on weapons and military research, it would be easy to imagine the symbiote being a biological equivalent to the exo-suit. The suit is engineered to be semi-intelligent to better adapt to its environment, etc. I can imagine some bad guy attacking the testing facility, spidey stopping him, but getting a symbiote attached to him. Thus begins the venom saga.

Enough speculation though. I see Venom as being the coolest Spiderman villain, followed in a close second by the Goblins, and then Doc Oc. Everyone else I'm familiar with doesn't really strike me as an epic character worth 2 hours of screen time :). Just my 2 pesos.

I think it would be awesome if Spidey acquired the Black costume in the next movie (some sort of nano-tech mumbo-jumbo). The costume will prove useful (and stylish) throughout the film, but would not actually go "bad" until the third movie.
