What's so special about being special?

Spells are a noted way of individualizing characters. If you INSIST on keeping PC classes rather than making everyone Commoners, I have a suggestion. All casters should get only one spell known per level, the most generic and least useful possible.

Wizards and Sorcerers:

1: Magic Missile
2: Arcane Lock
3: Secret Page
4: Detect Scrying (Note: no one will be able to scry.)
5: Permanency (No spells the arcanist can cast will qualify.)
6: Greater Dispel Magic (See above.)
7: Statue
8: Mind Blank (See above.)
9: Freedom.

Nah. All spellcasters have access to one spell, called "Spell".

Spell - Spellcaster Spell 1
Standard Action - Magic
Target: One target - Range: Battlemap
Attack: Spellcasting Ability vs. Defense
Hit: 1d Damage
Miss: No Damage
Special: Not
