Whats the best MPEG player out there?

WinAmp and Windows Media both have their share of annoying habits. With WinAmp, it's the fact that the pause key ("C") happens to sit between the keys that instantly kill your video. Seems like a poor design IMO. Then there's the lack of slow-mo and the annoying habit of playing sound-only on some of the larger MPG's.

Windows Media Player is OK, but annoying in that hotkeys aren't designed to be accessed with one finger. I don't wanna have to do CTRL+P or whatever whenever I'm trying to stop a video at just the right second to perform a vid capture. Kinda sux for watching porn too :D

Is there anything better out there? Maybe even something that plays AVI's too?

I quite like Media Player Classic (link). It looks like Media Player 6.4 but has a DVD-player like powerdvd/windvd but is absolutely not as bloated.

Then install ffdshow (MPEG video codecs), AC3filter (for ac3 sound), DVobSub (subtitles) and you are all set!

The above setup can play every video file I have ever downloaded (in the 100 of gigs), except for Real Media (but I never ever use RM anyway so it doesn't matter for me).

Edit: To use subtitles, just rename the subtitle file so it matches the video file.

Example: my.downloaded.movie.avi
my.downloaded.movie.sub
