D&D General What's the DC for a fighter to heal their ally with a prayer?

Why would you expect a fighter to be able to do this? This isn't typically part of what fighters do. There are ways to build a fighter with some ability to help in this situation--proficiency in Heal, equipped with Healer's Kit and/or healing potions, Magic Initiate and healing word/cure wounds, aasimar heritage; if none of these apply there's really no reason to think the fighter can do anything about this, oh well.

A trickster god could answer (especially if the fighter so far has not displayed any sign of worship to the god he prays to).

(Apollo/Loki/Demogorgon)

Strange voice: "So, you ask for your friend's life to be restored. I can grant your hands the power to raise the dead, if this is your wish..."
PC: YES!
Strange voice: "so be it."

Sure, he can now lay on hands (in time to save his friends). However, after 8 days, every person killed by his hand will raise as an undead. Leaving a trail and causing havoc. The price to pay for the removal of the gift, once the problem is identified, will be an adventure in itself. Bonus point if the heroes are recruited to take down the evil necromancer that is stirring up the dead in the region...

The fighter's friend is hurt, even dying. The fighter prays to the gods to heal their friend. How is this action resolved? If it's a Religion or similar sort of check, what's the DC?
I would think the gods would heal their friend, instead of wanting the fighter to do it.

For me, if the healing is a miraculous result of a Fighters prayer, I would think about the actions that the Fighter has done to this point to merit such a miracle.

If the Fighter starts to rely on miracles, then I might roll chances, but I would still require merit.

I thought a 20 on a roll always succeeds now. ;)

I recall this once in 2e days where someone was dying and prayed out for help and the water god answered. I think it was a percentile roll and the player rolled a 99 or such. I want to say that the PC somehow was teleported to the plane of water first and was drowning.

DC 20 to stabilize for a non-religious character (fighter or injured party)
DC 15 to stabilize if they've proven to be a devotee

Reduce by 3 if it's a god of healing
