Sort of a random question, but one I've been thinking of asking for a while now. What's the highest modified d20 roll a character of yours has ever gotten, given the following limitations:

1. Standard D&D 3E or 3.5 only - no house rules, alternate rolling systems, home-grown prestige classes, mixing 3E and 3.5 rules, etc.

2. No Epic characters or gear - Level 1-20 only.

To get this started - I ended up with IIRC an 83 on a grapple check, once, thanks to Close Quarter Fighting. (Purple worm tried to grapple my character, I got the AAO thanks to the feat, hit and scored a critical with a dwarven waraxe wielded two-handed, ended up adding the damage to my check to resist being grappled.)

Best was a 20 on a D20. Can't roll better than that! :-)

I think one of my players figured out how to get over 100 on an opposed Spellcraft check. It involved a high-Charisma creature cohort with 1 level in Marshal for the minor aura that inspires intelligence-based skill checks, Moment of Prescience, Items, very high Int, max ranks in Spellcraft (of course), synergy, and the feats that raise Spellcraft.

The best total result on a d20 roll I've made has been a 37 (rolled an 18, had a modifier of +19) on a sleight of hand check to use my master thrower's special thrown weapon trick (with thrown weapon make sleight of hand vs. enemy's spot check, if you beat them they are denied their dex bonus). Woo hoo! No way that stupid hill giant can spot that!

Then I rolled a "2" to hit.

I'm pretty sure I've had ridiculously high critical damage rolls in the past, but can't recall the exact amount. My highest d20 roll was a 45 for a Hide check, just this last session. My 10th level Scout has a Ring of the Chameleon, and rolled a 20.

Doh... I should have specified I meant a d20 roll, rather than a damage roll. Let me edit that to make it clear.

My highest roll was, IIRC, a Bluff check of 72 with my 15th level Warlock. I used it to talk the big bad into cooperating to defuse the out of control superweapon instead of fighting while it blew up. You've gotta love the +30 untyped bonus from Glibness.

And I was hoping to be the first to cite Glibness! :)

Just last session, my newly-minted cohort (a 10th level githzerai beguiler) rolled a natural 20 to get a 78 on a Bluff check to lie to a captive. No Sense Motive getting out of that one! ;)

And yes, I do LOVE the +30 untyped bonus! Much use will be made of that I'm sure...but the +5 insight bonus from Serene Visage was also much appreciated.

(Just in case anyone is interested - the gith has 18 CHA, 13 ranks of Bluff, Skill Focus(Bluff) and a Circlet of Persuasion that all combine to give a base modifier of +23 - before the buffing spells)
