We were in a play yourself campaign only it was really cool.
When we were "sucked in" on our way to the realm our bodies were transformed, knowledge, and training was given. So that way we had the stats of our characters we rolled up,
I didn't mean to say that we were assigned stats, or came up with our own stats. We all know each other fairly well, and the six main stats were generally agreed upon (except the DM guy who insisted he get his twin 17s in INT & CHA. He's fairly smart in some ways, so I would have given him a 13 or 14 anyhow, but maybe an 8 or 9 in CHA - at best) One cool thing about the fantasy world - we have one guy that in real life has severe arthritis and walks with a cane (he is having hip replacement surgery soon, too) But, the guy was able to get a regenerate or heal spell cast on himself, and he was up and about in the Realms (and a pretty arrogant SOB, in game… )
But, some of the odd house rules in this “Play Yourself” campaign:
1) mages could use two wands in a round
2) no cleric types were allowed. The DM’s feeling is that we have the Judeo-Christian single god concept so ingrained into our society that it would be impossible for anybody from our world to actually believe the Realms gods are real.
3) If your body died, the spirit/soul is stronger in those from our world than those in the Realms. So, rather than having to be raised, your soul would move to the nearest sentient non-Earther until your body got healed.
4) The only way you could actually die was Highlander-esque – if another Earther cut off your head.
