What's your back-up game?

I'd rather think of these systems as alternates rather than back-ups since I don't know if 4e will be my system of choice or not. I probably would go with Pathfinder or C&C if 4e isn't to my liking, with Savage Worlds used for games that don't fit the D&D genre mold (D&D meaning D&D and all of the games that sprung from it).

It may be, too, that I use one system for one type of game, and another system for another type of game.

My problem is that I don't have much time to "create" adventures and stories like I used to. I started running 3.5 again this last year because there was an abundance of pre-written modules, be they from WotC, Dungeon, or other 3rd party sources. Of course, running mid-level adventures just got insane with 3.5, even with the stat-blocs already written out for me.

So I'm HOPING 4e delivers on it's promise to be easier to run and quicker to plan for. I've got a ton of other RPG systems sitting on the shelf, but I never have time to create a really decent adventure on a reoccurring basis.

To be honest, if 4e is a bust, I don't think I'll be buying any more RPG books. More often than not, I enjoy reading through them, but then I can never get groups together nor find the time to create the stories I want to.

I just looked at the Savage World website and I'm digging the idea of their Plot Points campaigns.

I don't have backup games. Rather, I have many games I like to play, 4E has a chance to be in that lot, or else I'll only play it at conventions or if requested by club buddies / newcomers.

The game I'm playing right now is Witchcraft by C. J. Carella. I'm really curious to try out the new Runequest and to see the new Lone Wolf RPG, both from Mongoose. I liked reading and would like to try out Vento dell'Est, an Italian game designed to play fantasy manga-like adventures. And I also need to try Nobilis now that I finally managed to get a copy.
Looking back, I enjoyed playing Tiers Age (a free French game in Middle Earth), Mage from WoD, and a couple other free systems, and I might always dig up one of these.

Do you got a back up? What is it?
I'll stay with three-five for at least another year, while I finish out my current campaign. After that, it will be the least-sucky of 4E, Pathfinder, or my homebrew three-five.

Rockband.

Actually that is not much of a backup as it will be cohabitating with all other games for a long time in my heart and in my living room.

-GURPS 4e (Was my preferred game in the 1990s, but latest edition isn't well supported.)

Now I don't play GURPS myself, but a quick glance at the SJG site has a claim that conversion for most GURPS 3rd Ed books are simply ability name changes and point total adjustments. If that is true, that would mean it's pretty easy to keep using all those old books.

I really want to play 4E, but getting my current gaming group to play may be hard, as they just started playing 3.5 not too long ago. So, I'll still be playing some of the following after 4E hits the shelves: my current 3.5 Shackled City game, Exalted 2nd edition, Arcana Evolved, Iron Heroes, 3.5 Eberron (all by PBP). And I recently grabbed a copy of True20, might try running a non-fantasy game with that.
