What's your current campaign about?

I ended my previous campaign earlier this year. It was a Anglo-Saxon / Viking historical campaign set in 11th century England using Burning Wheel. I've had a surge of responsibilities at work in the past couple of weeks. So creative outlets outside of work are on pause.

But I'm pondering on what's my next campaign. Dolmenwood, Traveller, The One Ring, Orbital Blues...
 



Brindelwood Bay.

We are slowly uncovering the dark secrets that underly the sleepy town of Brindlewood Bay. That, or we're just having fun annoying the local hoi poloi/cultists of Evil at all the local parties and festivals.

Star Wars

We're a bunch of bounty hunters. Not averse to taking some ethically dubious jobs from people, including Hutts and the Empire. But the timeline has advanced, the offical declaration of the Rebel Alliance is only months away, and I suspect we will soon be forced to pick a side. And it will be the Rebellion. But we will miss the big pay cheques.

SWADE

Early days of this one, just started second adventure. My GM is using an old setting from the 80s: Dragon Empires or something like that. So far it's the peripatetic meanderings of three adventurers. But we'll find a more cohesive theme as we go along. Probably fighting the eponymous Dragon Empire.
 

I find it interesting that some folks answer the question with what their characters are DOING, rather than what the campaign is about.

I don't know that I can answer what the campaign is about yet. Right now it's mostly trying to give the players a sense of what it would be like to be Bounty Hunters in the outer rim at a time when the profession is considered somewhat honorable. It's about the dark underside of the Star Wars universe. Twisted and evil, a wretched hive of scum and villainy. For the most part, I haven't yet given the players jobs that require them to overtly compromise their morals. The first job, the acquisition proved to be innocent, but they didn't necessarily save him because he was innocent, but because it was convenient - the guys trying to protect him offered to pay more than the Empire or the CSA and that also meant not getting in a fight with unknown forces. But once I've sort of established the universe they live in and the players are steeped in the lore and routine, I'll probably start shaking it up with missions that will make them wish they hadn't taken them. Then we'll find out what the story is about; that's up to the players.

It's easier to talk about my influences than what the game is about. This is "Miami Vice" in Star Wars. This is "Batman: The Animated" series as Star Wars. This is "Have Gun Will Travel" in Star Wars. We've got villains of the week that have to be brought to justice in a world that is mostly corrupt. We have a complex human government with some people are psychopaths, some that are corrupt, some people that are trying to be honest, and a lot of banal evil of people just doing their job.
