I prefer to counter being charmed with magical aids... will saves are more of a gamble than just sucking it up and allowing yourself to suffer psychic poison :p... not like it's ever happened before...

I couldn't vote, because IMC I try to make sure that all stats have their role to play. Everybody's got advantages and disadvantages. I try to keep it balanced, although I certainly don't always do it perfectly.

Clerics

Clerics also benefit from a good charisma score, as it helps them when turning undead. Although Charisma still isn't a real necessary stat for clerics.
Yes and when I play Clerics, my CHA is usually decent, maybe 12-13. But overall it isn't a priority. Most of my characters have a CHA of 9-11.

Considering that STR is also a popular choice, people must like to play wizards.

I'm surprised to see WIS as a popular choice as well. WIS is great not only for Will Saves, but for the constant listen and spot checks.

yeah, I realise they are all important, and that different people play different types of characters.
But I guess I was mostly asking if people found they played any particular type of character more, and as such they leads to high and low stats...
I mean, I don't even play D&D, so my reasons are going to be significantly different because of that. So yeah, it does depend on class, and for that matter even the game.

Well, to echo several other people, I didn't vote at all.

Not only do I not have a single "dump stat", but I don't even have a dump stat based on character class.

To me it all comes down to the concept I have in mind. As an example, I have two different fighter characters who have two very different stat set ups, because of the concept. While the one is rather air-headed, but likable (lower int, higher charisma), the other is much more bookish and much worse at social interaction (very high int, lower cha, and con is actually the dump stat, with a 9! ;) )

So I'd like to see a poll with at least two other options:

* Dump stat is based on class I'm playing
* Dump stat is based purely on character concept

:D

Constitution

It depends on the character.

I can answer the reverse of the question though. I think Constitution is always important.
I agree. I've never had a character with a CON score below 12, even my elven characters. Making CON a dump stat is like begging to roll up a new character.
