Moving along again lets take the original block of prestige classes and see which are most loved,
Try to keep arguements to a minium...just tell me your personal favorite/most played.
And please please dont start up the "prestige classes are evil/unbalanced/suck etc" arguement if it can be avoided.
I havent played any of them myself but if I was it'd most likely be Loremaster or Arcane Archer.

I had a player who played a CG Rogue 5/Alt. Ranger 1 (no dual-wielding)/Assassin 4/Shadowdancer 1. His backstory was that his mother was a demon-summoning sorceress, who ended up bonding herself to a demon so that she could take revenger on those who killed her husband (and the PC's father). So he apparently got linked up with a bit of demonic power, which let him become a shadow dancer. It's amazing, my friend Neil was like the anti-power gamer. He seems to have no grasp of advantageous powers and abilities, and most of his feats were totally random cool things, that didn't help a core character focus. But dang, could he hide. I think he had something like a +26 Hide check, with a cloak of elvenkind. The rest of the party got a little frustrated when he'd hide in plain sight for 3 rounds, then deal a death blow. Sure, when he finally did hit, he made an impact, but for the rounds before that, he usually did nothing effective.

I play a Dwarven Defender and I know someone who plays an Arcane Archer, but in terms of popularity, I hear a lot of people talking about the Shadow Dancers ability to hide in plain sight.

So I voted for DD, but I suspect Shadow Dancer is the real popular one.

Loremaster is, I think, a gimme if you are a high level wizard and you don't have any other PRC you want.

arcane archer.

Why, you ask?

What other class can place 10 arrows of detonation on the other side of a brick wall in a single round at no risk to themselves?

Passwall-type arrow + Arrow of death = arrow of death that ignores armor.;)

closest thing you'll get to the 2nd edition Archer Kit : +1 to attack and damage every other level.

One of my PCs was a shadowdancer with a both Boots and a Cloak of Elvenkind and a Ring of Chameleon Power.

Yea.... I had to kill him.
