What's your favorite PHB spell?

Dispel Magic. Excellent spell.

(Though no one's mentioned Invisibility so far. That's my hands down favorite spell as a DM - invisible attackers, yeah!)

I'm also surprised that no one has mentioned invisibility yet.

Oh, and if the second pair of winners I listed above is still interested, I'm still willing to give them a pdf. The original winners both contacted me but since I was hasty in choosing two more, well I have to live up to that.

Great graphics, Jupp! :D

Napftor - Does your RPGNow.com sig point to the ENGS? :p Nothing personal, of course, but it seems kinda like doing a book signing promotion at Borders while wearing a Barnes and Noble hat and tee shirt. ;)

Just wanted to share my love for Happy Fun Ball (aka holy smite). It's the only reason I take the Good domain, and I fill my higher level domain slots with it, including empowered, maximized, or empowered/maximized holy smites. It's an area effect spell that doesn't affect good guys! Which is great when you are in melee with bad guys, surounded by unseen bad guys, or there are innocent NPCs in the area. The Will save means evasion need not apply, and that goody goodness isn't blocked by energy resistance. Plus nasty demons & devils take even more damage! And it can blind evil with the purity of goodness! It's definately a Piffany spell. :)

Hmmm - not as useful as you'd think. Most 'civilian bystanders' are nuetral in alignment and would get nailed by that spell too. (And to be honest, my last party we had someone try that thinking it wouldn't get the rest of us too. And well - thank goodness some of us knew blindfighting.) I think it was nastier to nuetrals in 3.0 if I recall though.

Well, if they were affected by holy smite, then they weren't really innocent, right? ;)

Actually, I'm more careful about using the spell than that. My RPGA cleric casts detect good on the party before the adventures starts.

I love suggestion and the charm spells.

These spells give you so much power. I really love how sneaky those spells are. It has really limitless posebilities to use for. Especially for the non good arcanists.

On the second place I flavor the cure series, dimension door, wall of thorns, mirage arcana, entangle and sanctuary. Sanctuary is just a usefull and funny 1st level spell.

As the Cleric in a currently low level group, I've been getting good milage from.

Remove Fear - suppress any fear effect, from the 1st level things like Bane & Doom to the 6th level Symbol of Fear and Dragon / Demon Fear auras. It actually works better if you cast it on the victim after they fail their save, as technically they only get a +4 bonus to saves if it is cast beforehand, but the effect is total suppressed for 10 minutes if cast afterwards.

I only recently discovered yet another fun thing for low-level clerics to do. Fear effects escalate. So for a NPC cleric, who's probably not going to survive to use spells in more than one encounter, casting doom and cause fear on the same enemy is absolutely devestating. Drop weapon, run, cower. That character's completely out of the match.

Now I know why remove fear is a first level spell...

Demiurge out.
