What role does your 4e group double up on?


A controller type is usually the first character that our group picks. It's therefore not rare for two or more players to choose one. It's also not rare for us to keep both.

And it's surprisingly fun to play a wiz/wiz/wiz/wiz/cleric group. :D

Striker slots fill fast with the people I play with. I find that they can do some remarkably controllery single-target special effects. For that matter, it's easy enough to spread around area effect attacks throughout the party, regardless of actual roles. (The fighter's Come & Get It and the rogue's Cloud of Steel come to mind.)

I find much the same thing. Most classes have some control elements, and when you add on what else they can do it is fun. Controllers who can barely do damage and exert minimal control are not as much fun.

At least IMHO.
