If you're a player or DM, how much do you spend on average per month on gaming materials including books, dice, figurines, etc?

Update - Just to clarify, the $ are assuming US Dollars. Keep forgetting this is a worldwide audience sometimes.

My wife and I just celebrated the birth of our first child, so my gaming budget can be best categorized by one of two epochs:

BC - that is Before Child, I spent a good 40-50 bucks a month or so on various gaming materials, a new rule book, some Reaper minis, etc.

AD - that is After Delivery, I now have zero extra cash and so I scrounge the internet for cool, albeit legal, downloads (I haven't downloaded pirated pdf's). I'm sure one day the gaming budget will replentish a bit.

Its really hard to say, it used to be over a bit over a hundred but lately even though I budget to spend that much I rarely do. The last RPG books I got was at the beginning of May.

I dunno where to put my vote. I don't have a set gaming budget really. I spend what I can when I can. For instance...

This month I got 2 cases of Giants of Legends minis, an order of 25 assorted common and uncommon singles from the previous three mini releases and 4 books. I'll also be paying for gas to get back and forth to my game twice this month (250 miles per game night). So That is like almost $500 this month.

But I haven't bought anything for 2 months, and don't plan to make any more purchases until at least September (unless the sequal to Elements of Magic comes out before then). So those months only cost me $50 in gas and a few bucks in postage for mini trades.

I guess I'll just average the $450 over 5 months, and then add the $50 a month. So that would put me on the low end of "$100 to $250 a month"? That isn't so bad.

Part of the reason I posted is because I'm trying to decide if I'm spending too much on my hobby or not. I hoped by breaking out the DMs vs. players, it might show what kind of money various folks spend on their gaming materials.

FYI, I'm married with no kids so I can afford a few hobbies. In the past, I was spending about $200 3 times a year on Magic cards along with about $50 per month on D&D materials. Essentially my budget has been right around $100 per month. I quit playing magic (at least for now) about a year ago, since I just didn't have the time or dedication for it anymore, and now I am using the extra money I would have spent on cards to buy various D&D materials such as books and miniatures instead. I tend to average about $100 per month, though it winds up being some months with nothing along with a few months in the $100+ range.

I don't think my wife is real thrilled with me buying a lot more figurines unless I use them (I try to, but I've got a lot to use), but I really want to get some Giants of Legends. So I'm trying to rationalize my purchase somewhat.

Thanks for all who respond.

I mostly play and was spending around $100 or more per month on books, although I am going to try to limit my spending as I have more expenses now (not to mention cost of everything is going up).

A player that spends money on books? I think I've seen everything now. :D

None of your players buys books? In the groups I've been in so far, at least half of the people have gotten the PHB at the very least.
