What's your rolling style?

I've seen some strange dice rolling styles over the years. One friend of mine has this hurky jerky way of holding the die with his palm straight up, and then pulling it out from under the die like a magician removing a table cloth from a heavily laden dinner table, allowing the die to gain some rolling momentum from his palm before dropping to the playing surface. Pretty fancy, though I am not sure it actually accomplishes anything.

I just let the dice fall where they may (hopefully, they won't bounce off the table and under the sofa), but I do know that back in my BECMI days in the late 80s, I hated my younger brother's style, which involved him whipping the dice at me when I killed his character. He also had a tendency to flip over gameboards if he was losing...

Generally, I give my dice some backspin, both to ensure a good randomization and to keep 'em close by on the table. For particularly dramatic rolls, I roll the die forward, making sure it ttravels a good distance down the table.

Mark, you running anything at GenCon? I'd love to get in a session with you, if you've got the room and the inclination.

I'm not usually too picky about how I roll, but when I'm DM, I have a giant nerf foam d20 that I roll when I'm mad at a player. I usually make sure it bounces off of said play, for maximum randomness.

I roll my dice like I'm shooting craps. No, seriously. I shake them vigorously in one hand, and then aim them at the center of the table.

One of my players flat drops the dice onto the table. They refuse to roll entirely, instead letting the one lone bounce off the surface randomize it.

This is how I roll.
