i've added multiple versions of the same setting, for those settings whose massive changes i'm aware. i'm sure i missed something out... dragonlance has changed so many times, that i don't even know what's up with it today. i put the two "classic" options of the war of the lance time period and before the cataclysm, plus the fourth age.

if the original setting was published with a d20 ruleset by a third party publisher, but WotC still owns the rights of the setting, i've included it. otherwise (blackmoor being the notable exception), it's missing from the list.

I'm currently running Eberron, but don't think I'd use it again once this campaign is over. All the techno-magic and warforged, though cool at first, are starting to get annoying. So for this poll I'm going with the original Greyhawk. And I prefer homebrews to any of these.

All Dark Sun, all the time. I really love all of the D&D old settings, but Dark Sun manages to get a lot of things I like in fantasy just right. Psionics are common, wizards are hunted, survival of the fittest, secrets unveiled... I wish I had more time to DM this great setting, though.

I voted for Planescape...Why?

It was the one world that accomodated the widest variety of adventures. From the straight up dungeoncrawl in a tesseract tower on a plane of shattered rock populated by degenerate proto-races...to the political and philosophical battles of the various factions in Sigil. Also, it served as a base world that connected all the other D&D campaign settings. I've always been a fan of Moorcock's Multiverse and Planescape had that type of feel to it.

Uh....you realize that Dragonlance Fourth Age includes the War of the Lance, right? (Guessing you meant the Fifth Age.) And where's Taladas?

I like a ton of settings, but none have ever captured my attention like Dragonlance.

it's interesting to see that forgotten realms 3e is pretty much the only setting in which a revision is almost as popular as the original release. if this trend continues when more people have voted, i think it would be interesting to have another poll on how people see revisions of a campaign setting.

Planescape! Why? Well *duh*
It's the one setting that directly encourages the depth of character development (via the power of belief mechanics) that I prefer to see and play in my games. The flexibility and openness of the setting helps as well.
