Wheel of Time - Anyone Playing?

Jordan's written "setting things up for the next book" novels in Wheel of Time before, and even did a good job of it onece, which is why many people don't realize that Lord of Chaos (book 6) was one. And while the prose in The Path of Daggers (book 8) wasn't great, at least something happened. But I can't think of any tangible way that Crossroads of Twilight advanced the plot at all.

I'm a huge WoT junkie. I've defended the series against many people I've encountered. I also struggled through Crossroads of Twilight. It's hard to read a book where nothing happens.

The last book, Crossroads, was just building up the story to a boiling point. The next book, from what I was able to understand, is going to progress the story dramatically. I can see him finishing the main story (Last Battle) in two more books, with a final book used to describe the Aftermath of the Last Battle and tie up all the loose ends with the Sub-plots.

A lot of stuff better happen in Knife of Dreams or it will be impossible to finish by book twelve. I seriously doubt there will be a post-Tarmon Gai'don book. That would be so anticlimatic, it wouldn't be funny. Jordan has said some of the minor sub-plots will remain unresolved at the end of the series.

As for the game, while flawed in some areas, I enjoy it for the most part. I really wish I could get a game going.
