Complex in relation to what? I think vancian magic is way too complex for my tastes, and I find Wheel of Time easier, but some would find it too complex. It is just different, I think I would have to say, different enough to seem complex to some people.

I used to have it.

Basically, as you learn spells you can cast them however you want with a selected range of levels. So you can cast a weave at spell level 3 or the same weave at spell level 5.

It's a neat idea, but WoT didn't exactly go out of their way to achieve game balance. Female casters are simply very tough. Male casters ... welll ... I'm going to have to put it in spoiler tags, but they're tough too:

they are subject to the taint, as the game setting takes place before it was cleansed. It's pretty easy to powergame your way out of this though, so it ends up being not that big a deal.

There are some PrCs for the Windfinders and suchlike which can alter what aspect of the weaves you have mastered.

There is no, repeat, no difference in what Ajah you select. The biggest flaw in the magic system and game IMHO.

That's just my two cents. Happy gaming!

When I first started GMing the Scarred Land setting, I used the spellcasting system here to represent sorcererors who were still bond with the Sire of Sorcery. The madness in there works well.

Think XPH-style augmentable powers, only using slots instead of power points. Heck, there are d20 WoT fingerprints all over the XPH.

Well, it's pretty difficult for there to be balance between casters and non-casters in a world that's extremely magic-item poor, and where spellcasting is three or four orders of magnitude more common than any other quasi-magical extraordinary ability.

IMO, that's perfectly reasonable. There's no difference in the capabilities of an individual Aes Sedai, based on Ajah, and based on what the writers knew at the time.
In the prequel novel New Spring, a few Ajah-specific weaves are introduced, but that's about it.
A Gray probably has Diplomacy maxed out. A Green knows tons of combat weaves and bonded four Warders. A Blue has Gather Information maked out. A Red knows Sever. A Brown has a few knowledge skills maxed out.
