When 3.0 books become obsolete...

Nope, I believe Monte has said the AU core book is OGL not d20, it has xp and character generating stuff so you can run a complete game without the core books and so it gives up the d20 brand logo on the cover.

Everything else in the line will be d20 so they will say they require the PH, even if you will be fine with just the AU book. Of course they are designed to mostly work interchangeably with D&D stuff.

I was under the impression it was only a replacement for the PHB, not all 3 books.

In any event, mine are going on my shelf, along side my ODnD, 1E, and 2E books. And from the looks of it, the PHB might still get used a bit... I think I'm going to revert to 3.0 for some spells and class abilities.

I'll keep using them plus a printout orf relevant sections of the SRD until they run a printing where they fix all of the silly errata.
