D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

DavyGreenwind

Just some guy
Last year (and the year previously), most of 2024's and 2025's books were announced all at once in D&D Directs. Are we getting one this year? When and how? Or do you think they will ditch the Direct and announce them book by book, as done in the past?

I suppose we know Lorwyn and Dark Sun (probably) are coming (and some product with the other subclass UAs), but that's about it.

I think the timeline got pushed out due to several changes in leadership

Well, last year we got that announcement at the very end of August...but a lot has changed since then, and that wasn't a regular established rather previously anyways.

So, maybe soon, maybe not for a while?

Maybe Pax West?

Wizards is a major sponsor with a large booth. Baldman is running D&D open play. Acq Inc is back.
There's the following D&D events too;
Learn to Play
Forgotten Realms preview
Legends of Greyhawk

Being local cuts down on costs

Dark Sun's not coming.

After releasing only two books from January through August, the end of this year is very release-heavy for official D&D. They have to sell two boxed Starter Sets (mid Sep & early Oct), the two Forgotten Realms books (both releasing Nov 11th), and Eberron: Forge of the Artificer (early December).

That's two boxed sets and three hardcovers all releasing between Sep 16 - Dec 5, 2025, with just weeks between each release. That's already too many books to market effectively; I can understand them not trying to also put focus on MORE stuff coming after that.

Part of that is due to the printing disaster with Eberron.
It was supposed to be out now

Very possible, another Direct is a real possibility too.

Darl Sun seems fairly plausible given the Psionics test and what it was laying down, particularly the hinges at 10 Backgrounds tied to Wild Talents.

I would suspect they may wait till after they drop all these products to make any announcements. But maybe not.
