Are you confusing this with Bigby? He was originally human but in 5E he got squished by a giant and reincarnated as a gnome.

Nope, I was just offering a possible answer to the question. I was unaware of Bigby's gnomification - I'm not up on my 5E lore - but now he should probably be called Smallby.
