When did the FAQ lose credibility?

When Skip Williams quit doing Sage Advice

Naw, Skip started to lose cred when he quibbled about the difference between drinking a potion and swallowing a potion, in the Sage advice column. My circle of DM-friends pretty well wrote off that column and the FAQ (which he handled at the time) right then and there. That's just way too much hair splitting for me to abide.

On the other hand, think of the possibilities. Now your character, too, will be able to say when asked about his dissipated youth that he drank that potion, but he didn't swallow.

Unless otherwise noted, the rulebook is not faulty.

(Of course, it has been otherwise noted too many times, so the above statement is moot.) :p

Excluding the errata, it's still faulty. One look at the monster entries, and in particular animals, but also things like salamanders will tell you exactly how wrong it can be.
