When Did You Start Playing D+D?

My brother hooked me up in 1980. His best friend at the time and I made 6 wizards and promptly got eaten by stirges in the Caves of Chaos.

My girlfriend introduced me to it in 2004, shortly after we met. I might have played sooner but my mother always told us that D&D was evil.

My husband introduced me to it when we were dating. I actually almost broke up with him when I found out he played because I too had been taught that it was evil.
I began playing in 2002.

Jim is doing very well, and the 3rd edition of the MA game was introduced at GenCon. I believe he is about to add teaching game creation at college level to his repetorie of accomplishments

1981 for me; though I played AD&D first, I bought the Red Box.

I too purchased the red box in 1981. It was prescribed for me by a child psychiatrist when I was 9. Most useful medical prescription I've ever received.

I started playing in 1983 in the 6th grade. My school had a teacher who was running D&D as a lunch hour elective (as in what do you do when the other half of the school is at lunch). The only thing I can say about that is: God Bless you Mr. Powell!!! You introduced me to THE hobby. Thank you.
