When do Iron Armbands apply?

At heart, 4E is a game, not a simulation. I guess that's why so many people have a problem with it.

No, people are having a problem with it because the rules are very poorly made. Many basic things aren't defined and many words are given definitions which stray far from their dictionary definitions. Any thorough look at the rules quickly leads you to having to try to guess the designers intent as the rules as written are unclear or non-existent. You know, RAI, and RAW, acronyms you don't see as much of on other game forums.

And some important things are given both an alternate definition which strays frrom their dictionary definition and then are later used in both their "4e rules definition" and their dictionary definition

Wielding for instance - what's wielding, exactly? Rogue powers and weapon properties both key off this, and it's not consistent.

Properties in general - these always on effects, well, when exactly are they on? Just when you carry them? Can you turn em off? What if you carry em in a bag of holding? How about weapon properties (which require wielding to work) when used as an implement (which don't mention that requirement, and according to the FAQ, don't have that requirement).

That's off the top of my head; some inconsistencies that have come up in the past week or two.
