When Not to Post on Messageboards

+5 Keyboard!

First Post
The last couple of days I've suffered from the proverbial Foot in Mouth syndrome (or whatever the messageboard equivalent is) while posting to a couple of my favorite messageboard forums and I got to thinking that maybe I need to make a mental list of when is NOT a good time for me to post messages. Then I thought, hey, that's probably a good topic! Anyway, here's my list. If anyone would like to add more, please do.

DO NOT POST TO MESSAGEBOARD FORUMS IF:
1. You are angry (at another poster's comments, in a bad mood, work is pissing you off, significant other is annoying you, still fuming from a recent encounter with a jack ass on the road, etc.)
2. You are coming in late to a discussion and haven't read the original post
3. You have no clue about the discussion, but have the urge to spout off anyway
4. You are a TROLL

Whew! That was therapeutic.

If I ever feel myself really getting agitated over posts, or posters for that matter, I generally force myself to step back and realize in the grand scheme of things, it's generally not something worth getting upset over. Usually that involves me reverting to lurking for a while.

Drunk posting can be fun just like drunk chat. At least it can be fun for those that are sober.

Yeah, board posting is kind of like playing RPG's, you "mature" as your experience with the system grows.

The only piece of advice I can give is don't ever tell people your life experiences have made it highly unlikely, if not impossible, for anything they can post on the board, to change your mind.

Gets all kinds of people upset. They'll call you all kinds of elitist type names.

No, they never changed my mind.
