When you die and are raised... can you chose which feats you lose ?

I think you should go one of two ways, situation dependent.

If in your campaign death is no big deal, then definately go with the you lose what you most recently gained way of handling death. Don;t let death turn into a benefit.

If, on the other hand, death is a really big deal and it takes real gaming time to get your level back, then allow the player to choose what feat gets lost and which skills get reduced. This helps take the sting out of dying by allowing the player to review previous choices and maybe make the character better in the long run.

Not only do you lose what you gained at your last level up, but I rule that when you regain the lost level, you must take exactly the same feats and skill points that you took when you originally gained the level.

Level up... take craft wonderous item... craft some items... lose a level.... gain a level... take craft ring... craft some rings...

OK, so it's not likely, but it's possible.

I rule so for one or two lost levels... but if a player loses 8 levels in your case... and has to regain all that lost experience... I'll allow changes.

I don't think there is a specific rule anywhere about this...

It does open the way for changing the character a little... but compared to the XP loss I hardly think people will die on purpose or find it convenient in order to change what feats they chose before.
