Where do you get ideas for adventures?

This latest adventure I'm running...I was thumbing thru the LIris Mortis and came across that Necrotic cyst spell and thought geez, what would happen if that sort of thing got out of control? Then later I'm doodling a small village and remembered about this duke my players have had dealings with and who is sort of an ally and I thought, what would happen if he was taken over by an angel of decay? Angel of decay, out of control necrotic cyst ravaging the land.

Then my head exploded.

Every so often I think, "I really need to start carrying a notepad around with me all the time." I never get around to actually doing it, though.

As others have said, anything and everything is potential fodder for adventures. I have found that wandering museums and art galleries (preferably alone) generates a huge number of ideas.

Of course, like everyone else, I get my best ideas while in the shower, while trying to sleep, or while playing sports. Which would make having a notepad rather useless anyway.
