Hate to sound like an echo, but you really need to have multiple choice.

I purchase my books at one of three places:

The FLGS. They are really more of a GW-and-Clix store, but occassionally I feel like supporting them, and when they aren't playing a game I can squeeze behind the table and get to the RPG rack and get something quicker than I could get it online.

Booksamillion (bamm.com). If you are a member and buy enough big publisher titles (WotC and WW, frex), it's almost the best prices you can get online. Occasionally it's cheaper to go through amazon or walmart, but I tend to shy away from those due to repugnant business practices.

ENWorld's RPG store (AKA RPGShop) - Best selection, always has the newest titles in stock unless sold out, and support ENWorld.

I get the majority of my gaming books from any of 5 local gaming stores (local being within an hour drive), but I also buy from the big bookstore, the big online store, and from retailers at conventions. Whatever's most convenient.
I do prefer to support gaming stores though, thus the majority (and thus my vote above).

I buy from the cheapest place possible, almost always on-line. If that causes the death of the industry, then so be it. I would rather have the death of the industry then the death of my checking account.

I also have the excues of 3 kids and other debts, but my bottom line is the preservation of my account balance. It is so much more important than the survival of a game.

My view is this... Amazon and Overstock sell for cheaper than any game store and you know they still make a profit on their RPG book sales. RPG book prices are marked up too much. The 3.0 splatbooks are the perfect example of that for $20 of almost nothing. They need to bring the prices back down to Earth and then I MIGHT go back to shopping at walk-in stores.

i didn't do multiple choice because i wanted to know where people prefer to get the majority of their books, not necessarily everywhere they get them.

i'd add an "online auction" choice if i could figure out how to edit the poll...

I picked retail bookstore, because that's how I get the vast majority of my books. There aren't any local game stores that I know of around here, so I don't really have much choice. And I like to look through the books beofre I purchase them, which is one reason I haven't really bought anything online yet.

Not to hijack but Im thinking about ordering some stuff from overtock.com, has everyone had pretty good luck using them? Are they fast or really slow to send? Tells us, my precioussss... ;)

I mainly buy online. I also go to LGS when I get those gotta have urges. I recently bought Calastia for 1/2 off, and Dawnforge for 25% off at LGS. I think Dawnforge was an error on their part but hey saved me money :)
