Pathfinder 1E Where does Pathfinder go from here?

I think Pathfinder Unchained is going to tell us a lot. They had the new class book come out this summer but it was not as big of a change as I was expecting. The Adventure Paths and setting books though are still of great interest to me. I think a lot of people feel that way as I see and hear of groups that are running Pathfinder AP in different systems. I know that's what I want to do now.
Really? Which system are you thinking of? I've been tempted to toss my hat in the ring for an upcoming campaign where I'd run one, but most likely I'd merely adapt it into 3.5, which isn't that big of a deal.

If I had a different group, I'd be more tempted for my own sake to convert it to Microlite.

I'm liking 5e and we might do that depending on what the game looks like when it is fully released DMG and all. Otherwise I'd be tempted to go back to the Rules Cyclopedia if I could get the group to agree. I'd really go with something like Fate if I thought the group would do something like that but I know they won't.

Sounds like we have a similar issue; the game I most want to run (or play) is not one that my group is very excited about.

Sigh.

Over the last year and a half the group played in a d6 campaign and an Edge of the Empire campaign and neither turned out well. I can fully understand their reluctance to try yet another new system they are not comfortable with.

I agree about Unchained, and Occult Adventures. The ACG was for Hybrid Classes - standard themes that took some system mastery to pull off, so they made those. I didn't expect a lot of change from those. I really did like how with the new classes, feats and especially archetypes they made it fairly easy to let one class play with a different class' toys.

I think that looking at Occult Adventures will be really interesting. They've stated it's not Psionics, but Psychic magic, and has more of a pulp/gaslight feel. And it will be using the standard spell slot / Vancian thing that wizards and clerics use. I want to see what they do with a different feel but utilizing similar mechanics in new design space. That gets pulled off well, and it really shows they have new directions for the rules to go; I think it may say more about what can be done than Unchained.

I want to see an official E6 Pathfinder book that collects, refines, and playtests the various E6 rules/options/feats that have been floating around out there since 3.5 days. With a supporting E6 adventure path simultaneous release.

Would buy this.

Pathfinder doing just fine

I see no need to change or update anything with it.

In fact, I could do with less rules and more adventures, be it path or other.

I have no interest in 5e or any other game system.

Pathfinder is the way to go, and if we only had another rules line for magic items/ archetype/ class / spell / ? every year or so, it would be perfect. there are too many side rules right now, IMO, and they are not necessary, or even some are detrimental to enjoying the whole.

I game to meet people and enjoy a common game. Rules are just killjoy, and rules updates are deadweight.

I'd like to see Paizo do a true sci-fi game complete with a robust campaign setting that does cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic, interplanetary, and interstellar. I'd also like for it to have its own organized play campaign.

The talk about the new occult book also kind of makes me want a gaslight style campaign world, one based on a fictional earth (not Golarion). I see it being equal parts Ravenloft, Masque of the Red Death, Call of Cthulhu, and Penny Dreadful.

Looking up each new fiddly thing slows the game down for us.
So, personally character, feat splat books are a bit meh...

I like the Core Rulebook.
Bestiaries are great.
Setting books are good.
Adventures are awesome (although I'd like to see shorter APs...say to tenth level)

If they do a second edition they would do well to keep everything compatible.
...and I mean out of the box...any converting should be easy peasy.

I think they should do Pathfinder Sci-Fi too.
Lack of good adventures is always a problem and I'd reckon Paizo could deliver.

Something like Alternity would be excellent. I liked that game but hated it's initiative rules.

With Star Wars hitting next year...and maybe FFG license ending soon?

Either way..Sci-Fi is going to be massive again boosted by that film.

:)

I could certainly support genre expansion. The back section of The Advanced Class Guide with it's advice on creating new classes/archetypes/prestige classes was a more interesting read than I expected, and if I had more time I could see using that advice to adapt classes from pre-Pathfinder attempts along those lines. There's Alternity already mentioned, Dragonstar, maybe even some Spycraft material would be usable to cannibalize.
