Where oh where is the elusive Thri-Kreen

Sadly- these are the two-legged versions.

For the 2nd edition "feel" you will need the Athas page.
Well, then you'd be disappointed to check your 2e products.

Thri-kreen have always had four arms and two legs.

Athas.org is the official website for Dark Sun currently, by license or something from WotC/TSR some years ago. Since Wizards of the Coast has only been providing a few updated materials for the setting, and pretty much scattered, there's no full conversion of Dark Sun except at Athas.org. So the Athas site has stats and such for Thri-Kreen available for free download, and probably more details than what's in the WotC products. Thri-Kreen stats and a short description (both for psionic and nonpsionic thri-kreen, including different ECLs for both) are in the Monster Manual 2 and Savage Species, and as mentioned they are also available in the WotC web enhancement for the Psionics Handbook. For 3.5, they can be found in the Expanded Psionics Handbook, and I think the Dark Sun issue of Dragon Magazine featured them too several months ago.

2nd edition kreen had size to them. They looked scarey and formable. They got a lot of grapple bonuses and the such.

The 3.0 ed look... wimpy. I seriously doubt I will ever use the 3 ed version. Especially if I play Darksun.

and since I hi-jacked this thread by accident...sorry.

Yep. They did look less humanoid-ish in 1 & 2e, however.
Well, that's just fluff. Nothing stops you from grabbing the 3.5e stats of the kreen from the XPsiHB and slapping a nice Brom or Baxa picture from the DS boxed set on it.

(and my favorite kreen character was a female kreen from the DS computer game, called Nameless :D )

The 2e version had 2 legs too. Furthermore, they should not have been Large in 2e; while a thri-kreen may be 11 feet long, it won't stretch out all the way in combat and definitely doesn't deserve a grapple bonus.

I can think of one thing; a John Dollar picture. Best thri-kreen artist ever! I wish I could post his art for them online, but I don't have a scanner and it's probably illegal to do that anyway.

Lambert -> I'm unfamiliar with this John Dollar you speak of (my Dark Sun lore is limited to the original box, Freedom and Dragon Kings).

He was the artist for Thri-kreen of Athas. I think it's available as a PDF, but I have the print version. (It was a PitA to get, since it's out of print, of course.)
