Where to find local game shops with lots of RPGs?

Specifically, I moved to the Seattle area and I'm looking for some place I can go to that sells a lot of role-playing game materials. I figure in an area this big there should be something...hopefully.

More generally, I'm wondering if there is any sort of website that collects this kind of information so you can look up where to go by location.

It seems it is getting harder and harder to find this kind of thing. I had some nostalgic bliss when I was passing through Portland and visited a place with shelves upon shelves of RPGs of all types, new and used, modern and ancient. Nowadays it seems you are lucky to find a place that carries the full line of 5e D&D.

Back in the 90s you had no problem finding stores carrying lots and lots of RPGs...why in my day...

Seriously though, Powell's Books in Portland is only three hours away - last time I was there (about ten years ago) they had tons of RPG books. Can't remember much in Seattle, but haven't been in a decade.

ALRIGHT!

First, welcome to Seattle fellow gamer. We are happy to have you.

Second, you need to take a trip to Lacey (a suberb of Olympia) and check out Gaby's Olympic Cards & Comics. Not only is this the most awesome incredible selection of new and used RPGs you have EVER laid eyes upon BUT is also run by one of the sweetest coolest people on the planet. It's also the best game store in WA, THE US, North America, All of America, The World, The Solar System and quite possibly The Universe (although many entries were submitted we've never heard back from the award show organizers...).

I also happen to know the owner of the 2nd best gaming store - The Game Matrix in Lakewood, WA. It's on the way! Smaller selection, but good playing space and knowledgeable staff (my childhood best friend is the manager...).

I work in Redmond, live in Renton, and I would seriously entertain a carpool trip down south because I seriously CANNOT get enough of Gaby's. It's just that amazing. Also tons of comics, graphic novels, miniatures, CCG's, board games, collectibles, playing space and awesomeness. AND we can take in the number 2 store on the way! It would be like a fun game-store tour.

Anyone in the Greater Seattle area interested in meeting strangers and carpooling south for some gaming store joy overload? We can sup in Lacey and later DINE IN HELL!! *cough*, I may have gotten a little over-excited there.

Haven't got a clue about Seattle but if you're ever headed up to Victoria drop me a line and I'll steer you right...

Someone over on RPG.net is visiting and asked the same question. I inquired to see if they are interested in a "strangers carpool to game store" quest and pointed them to this thread.
