Where to find on-line games

Lamoni

First Post
I am fairly new to D&D and have only played for a little over a year. (in that year we stopped playing for a few months). Anyway, I love the game and we are now getting together once a week which is a vast improvement from one to two times a month. I play with my wife and some friends, but I have more free time and would like to be involved in another game. D&D doesn't seem to be too popular where I live and even if I did find another playing group, I wouldn't really want to spend evenings there away from my wife (she has less time and less interest).

So, gaming on-line is the only alternative that I see. I searched a few months ago for on-line games, but only found one site and I never got a reply to my e-mails requesting to be a part of the campaign. Does anyone know a place where I can look? Thanks.

:)

AMG beat me to it! :)

We have an active community of message board gamers here at EN World. Check out the Playing the Game forum to see what Play by Post gaming looks like, and see the Talking the Talk forum for game recruitment. There's new games forming all the time!

Oh, and check out the Play by Post FAQ linked in my sig... hopefully that will help you get started!

Welcome to EN World, and good gaming! :)

I recommend http://www.woldiangames.com/

It's a homebrew campaign that's been running since about '85. It's been on-line for about five or six years now. It's highly organized and well attended (there are 80 or so players in 12 sub-campaigns at this point). The group focuses as much on players getting to know each other OOC as on the game itself. In-game, the focus is well-balanced between role-play opportunities and combat.

I've been playing one of the sub-campaigns since last fall and I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They're not always looking for players, but I believe there are a couple of openings available right now. If you're interested, contact me via email and I'll inform the campaign dm.

No, I haven't. In fact I had no idea that they existed. I just stumbled upon ENWorld a while ago when I was doing a search on the Internet about version 3.5. That was after I had given up looking for a game and I have only really looked at the General RPG Discussion and the Rules forums. I'll take a look.

Garyh - thanks for posting the FAQ and the links, they were helpful.

alsih2o - I would be interested in the game, but tuesday night is when my current group gets together... and mornings/afternoons work best for me for on-line play.

Joshua Dyal - Originally I was looking for more of a chat room environment, but I had never heard anything about playing by post so I'll give that a try.

DM with a vengeance - thanks for the link. It looks like I might search for a game there and here at ENWorld.
