Why arent poor skill checks causing the same problems as those spells? I am quite serious.

A failed attempt to get someone to do what you want can both cause hostility and and its random chance whether you get the benefit at all.

If you use Knock, everything within a 300 foot cubic radius knows it. The Rogue, however, can do that quietly and quickly.

Enchantment magic doesn't just annoy people, it enrages them supernaturally. Not a good Plan A.

Teleport seems to be significantly better than overland travel and survival skills for many many things

I mean, that's not an option until Level 13, so most players never see it. Also, not a Ritual, so it uses a high value spell slot.

In fact, not many Spells are rituals...

as for time - really ten minutes? lol skills can take longer.

Yes it was in 4e and because it had a monetary cost it was possibly a toss up for the use of skills.

Well, in 5E no Spells above 5th are Rituals, and the Spells that are Rituals are not terribly cheesy. Stuff like Identify or Speak with Animals. Not stuff that intrudes on Rogue/Fighter Skill space.

Ok resurrection does have a cost but honestly ... rituals do not have a cost a few might. But mostly they undid the resource management element. Unless you are putting it in a slot

Resurrection is not a Ritual spell in 5E. Very few are, they kept the system from 4E but beat rituals with the Nerf bat pretty hard. Here's a full list for your convenience:
