Where would you hide your phylactery

Permante "Rope Trick" with a courpse inside and the rope pulled up. Have it in a room that is under a constant Nystul´s magic aura. This room should be just some random persons cellar.

If I could wing it, in a PC's child.

Or, wait, if you can get access to Effigies (either you are, or know an effigy master) hide it as an innocent child.

I'd probably go traditional. Inside an egg, which is inside a duck, which is inside a chest, which is inside another chest, which is in the top of the tallest tree in the forest, guarded by a roc. Or a twelve-headed dragon.

What makes you say you'd reform in the Bag of Holding?

The question, when reforming, is not "Where is the Phylactery?" It's "Has the Phylactery been located and destroyed?"

If the Phylactery has not been located and destroyed, the Lich reappears a few days after his death. The location of the Phylactery when that occurs is not relevant.

I assumed the lich would reform next to the phylactery, or even grow out of the phylactery in some manner.

Possibly I have been influenced by too much Order of the Stick, but it makes sense to me. To do it any other way isn't tormenting the lich nearly enough.

Figure most adventurers are going to look for a small box, not a room-sized box. Could you make your phylactery a whole stronghold, or maybe just a room or closet inside the stronghold? Then make the stronghold all nice and inviting for 'victorious' adventurers.
