The first novel is, in part, an adaptation of the first two (?) DL modules. Weis and Hickman made changes to the story based on their group’s playthrough (like Raistlin charming Bupu).

What about doing something in Eberron? You would have the option to do something more Sci-Fi using the magitech concepts. This would allow you the option to create something with possibly a far wider appeal that a straight fantasy D&D line?

I am not sure whether that widens or narrows your potential audience…
