The first novel is, in part, an adaptation of the first two (?) DL modules. Weis and Hickman made changes to the story based on their group’s playthrough (like Raistlin charming Bupu).

What about doing something in Eberron? You would have the option to do something more Sci-Fi using the magitech concepts. This would allow you the option to create something with possibly a far wider appeal that a straight fantasy D&D line?

I am not sure whether that widens or narrows your potential audience…

The one that makes the most sense to me is Waterdeep: Dragonheist.

There are four BBEGs... lots of intrigue and mystery. The protagonists have a home base. And they interact with just about every faction on the Sword Coast.

A mash up of Isle of Dread/Lost City/Hidden Shrine could be great. Go for an Indiana Jones vibe, with some humor, adventure, and terror.

Probably to obvious and the same novels will get recommended.

Eg Dragonlance. Those novels haven't aged well and weren't thay good to begin with.
