I generally prefer Regular, Crinkle, Shoestring and Steak fries, in no particular order.

I will say that a serving of steak fries is a major part of a particularly positive childhood memory, so they may have the overall edge.

Battered fries are generally hit or miss in my experience.
I tend to avoid waffle and curly fries. Can’t remember a single positive experience with any of them.

I’m not a fan of sweet potatoes fries, in part because I’m not really a fan of sweet potatoes. I’ll occasionally have them in the fall or winter, prepared in typical southern style, as a casserole with cinnamon, nutmeg & marshmallows (and sometimes, pecans) on top.

Crinkle cut are the best kind of fries that I would actually consider fries. And I'm not even nostolgic for them.

Sweet potatos are a total enigma to me, who in their right mind wants their potato to have a sweet flavor? It's unnatural and wrong on a fundimental level.
Diced potatoes and potato wedges aren't fries.
I don't want batter on my fries, just oil and salt.
Steak fries and Waffle fries are just too cumbersome.
Shoestring fries are generally cooked to the point where you lose that moist starchy goodness.
Between traditional fries and crinkle cut fries, the later has more salt and oil flavor.

All that said, I prefer baked potatos.

A sweet potato isn't actually a potato, rather it's a distant relative. They're in the same order as the potato, but a different family and genus. They don't really belong on this list because they're no more a French fry than tater tots are. Though at least tater tots are made from actual potatoes.

Sweet potatoes are actually quite delicious. I enjoy sweet potato casserole on Thanksgiving (without marshmallows) and I like to cube them and roast them in the oven.

I’m a tater outlier in that I have never liked ketchup on my fries. I’m more of a malt vinegar or just salt guy. Ketchup always been like tomato candy to me and I just can’t do it in anything. No hot dogs no burgers just mustard like an ordinary person.

That said, I turned a corner when I tried sweet tater fries in ketchup. Th at s good stuff.
