I see the bard is already getting early hate. So sad that so many people do not understand that it is the most powerful class in the game.

Depending on party size, of course. In a three person game, the bard is not usually a wise choice for a typical campaign. For a six member game, the bard easily can become the most powerful member of the party.

In general, I think the worst choice is one that doesn't fit the campaign. Try playing a fighter in a game where the DM specifically says that combat will play a major back seat to other elements (if it happens at all). Try playing a wizard in a game where the DM always picks opponents with huge Spell Resistance. Try playing an expert type character in a game where nobody cares for anything but killin'.

My point is that every class can shine. It is the DM (and the player's expectations of the campaign) who makes classes useless.

Very disappointed to see bards getting so many votes.

In an odd twist, I voted paladin.

That would have been my second choice. What a dip class, the only real one in the PHB. If I want a good horse to ride, I will take an easily replaceable Druid one, thanks. Beastmaster is good fo rthat also. Man, they can have wicked horses.

Bards can do a whole lot of things somewhat well. Monks do one thing exceptionally poorly.

"Ooo! I have unarmed attacks! Too bad I can't actually hit you! Be afraid of my stance, cause it's pretty much all I've got!"

I voted for monks, too.

Bards are almost useless; for the most part, their abilities are as a rogue/sorcerer, but they're a bit better than the combo (no poor multiclassing). Also, they have songs; IMO they're weak, but they're there.

I voted no class is useless. I have seen Monks and Bards just dominate a campaign. I have seen a druid a very powerful class played so poorly that they were the lame duck of the game.

It depends on what kind of campign your DM is running and the skill of the player playing the class.
