I voted piratecat, mostly because Of Sound Mind has been one of the most-used products in my collection (small though that collection may be), and his name keeps popping up in unusual corners of some of my other favorite things.

Monte Cook and Bruce Cordell are old favorites, but their work is hit and miss for me. What I like I like a lot, but other stuff does nothing for me at all.

Tom Moldvay rocks my world in any edition.

after he was let go by TSR he did Lords of Creation for Avalon Hill...

Then him and a few other ex-TSR staffers started Pacesetter games...they did Chill and Star Ace and a Tim Travel RPG (which was cool I had it, but the name escapes me)

Lords of Creation.
I actually owned that a long time ago. It was an intriging game.

Wow, what a list of names. There is something I like from each one of them...what a tough choice.

I do want mention three individuals, two which did not make the poll:

Douglas Niles (for Cult of the Reptile Gods and his many fine novels)

Bruce Nesmith (for his cool Ravenloft stuff, esp. the module 'The Created'

Paul Culotta (for Cleric's Challenge II...my all time favorite adv.)

I really really like Bruce Cordell.

Return to the Tomb of Horrors, Gates of Firestorm Peak, 3e psionics, the 3e MotP, the Illithiad... he's fantastic.

There are lots of others, though; I dig Monte and Gary, Leneord Lakofka (L1, anyone?), and pretty much all the rest at least a little.
