Which D20 Psionic rules?

Which psionic rules do people like or use more?

I love the XPH -- it's a huge improvement over the old PsiHB and I happily use it in my D&D campaign. However, like several others above, I'd go with Green Ronin's Psychic's Handbook for a modern campaign or almost anything else that wasn't pure fantasy. It is also an excellent book -- Steve Kenson rules.

I didn't realize that there were any psionic rules in Arcan Unearthed, but then I haven't picked it up and likely never will. I flipped through it a few times, but it jsut doesn't look like my cup of tea.

Me personally, I do not like any type of power system (spionic, magic or superhuman) based solely around skills and feats. Both skills and feats are used differently than adding the power elemnt and does not translate well.
Au contraire, I've found it translates very well. I've been using the Star Wars RPG Jedi here and there for quite some time and find it the best "psionic" class around; exactly what I'd kinda hoped the Psychic Warrior would be, to be honest with you. Since GR's psychic system is essentially an expanded set of powers using the same system as the Jedi, and with a more generic/fantastic bent rather than pseudo-scifi, I think it's perfect. I'd recommend it whole-heartedly as a replacement for psionics any day.

I really hafta go with Green Ronin's Psychic Handbook for any modern or mid to low power games.

Now for D&D & other high magic settings, you have to use the XPH (which is a great book IMHO) as now the psion can go toe to toe with a wizard. I just think that the XPH is too powerfull for any mid to low power games. I also like the change in pace that the Psychic's Hanbook provides. To me, it helps separate the feel of my modern games from my fantasy games....

Green Ronin's, depending on the bend of flavor text you can do just about anything in it, from replicating wuxia(sp?) to x-men and many other things.

In my own game though it is termed 'mysticism'.

I started my current campaign with Mindscapes as the default system, as it's very nifty and much more evocative than the original PsiHB approach.

I've skimmed through XPH and GRR's Psychic's Handbook, and they both offer neat alternatives. Unless one of the PCs develops an interest in psionics and wants to try another system (none of them are headed in this direction at the moment), I'll be sticking with Mindscapes.

I love the Green Ronin system and voted for it. But, I would only use it if it was the ONLY FX system being used. If Wizards and Sorcerers were inthe campaign, then I would have to use the WoC stuff.

This is the oddest Poll i have seen where two products are head to head in populaity.

The reason why I did this is for a campaign I am writing where both magic and psionic will be greatly used. This will be set in alternate 1930s Earth and it is gonna be dark science fanatsy in the truest scence. So you see where my delima is for which systen will be good.

No, actually I can't. What you really want is the Call of Cthulhu d20 book, which includes magic and psionics perfect for use in an "alternate 1930s Earth [that] is gonna be dark science fanatsy[sic] in the truest scence[sic]." None of the options you listed are dark or very appropriate for a modern, low magic (i.e., mostly real) world.

I wanted to know what others thought about this so I can decide which to use for my campaign.

Today I just got my copy of Green Ronin Psychic's Handbook (for those who want to know, I just got 4 rpg books, and would not have bought a 5th if I knew I was going to get my amazon shipment today instead of next week as planned).

I must say that I am quite happy with it! I only got a superficial look right now, but I think it is excellent. Good illustrations, good layout, good rules appently simple to use, and numerous aids (npcs, factions, advice, etc.) so the class can be easily introduced into a campaign.

As to whether one should choose either psychic skills or psionics, they are two different concepts. Nowhere in the book they pretend its an alternate version of psionics. In fact they give some guidelines as how to make psionics with regard to psychic, the same way there is a chapter (in psonic books) about psionics in relation to magic. Of course, one may want to limit the amount of different sorts of supernatural powers in his game; otherwise there is always a new sort of spellcasting or mental abilities available at one point or another.

A while ago I already made a poll that was basically this question (I don't remember where is that thread however):
1) Do you prefer WotC psi for both fantasy and Sci-fi?
2) Do you prefer Skill'n'feats (thus Green Ronin Psychic) for both for fantasy and Sci-fi?
3) Do you prefer WotC psi for fantasy and Skill'n'feats (thus Green Ronin Psychic) for Sci-fi?

As it turned out, I got 75% people prefering skill and feats for sci-fi, and 50% prefering it for both sci-fi and fantasy.
