Which issue w/ Zhent Mistledale Adventure?

Psychotic Jim

First Post
There was an issue set in the FR Dalelands area (IIRC, MistleDale) where the Zhents were trying to provoke fighting between elves and humans by wreaking havoc and disguising themselves as elves. I think it was for 8th level characters. Does anybody remember what issue it was in?

Also, does anybody have experiences with it? How did it go in your game? How long did it take? I plan to mostly use it as a hook to local drow activity (there's a coincidental drow encounter), and if I needed to, is there any advice out there to shorten the adventure? Thanks.

A brief stop at Google reaped this: http://www.candlekeep.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2118

Not sure about the first adventure, but it looks like the follow up Mistledale adventure was in Dungeon #100.

It is an excellent level one adventure (ran it twice and had a good time each time - although the Zhent fortress is a little big for a level 2 scenario - not in fights, but just the number of rooms and halls - a pet peeve of mine).

Dungeon #87 - The Raiders of Galath's Roost by Skip Williams.

I think hes refering to the sequel Woe to Mistledale which I think is either in Dungeon 101 or 103

You cant really shorten Woe to Mistledale much, about the only thing you could remove is the trip to the lumper camp. One thing I did do is use Illusion spells on the Zhents instead of the fake Elf ears (the as written the Zhents come across as very amautrish)

WOe to Mistledale is in DUNGeon 100 (8thlvl). it is a sequel to the DUNGeon 87 adventure Raiders of Galath's Roost(1-3rd lvl).

Beast of Burden in DUNGeon 100 is a better adventure.

I didn't like Woe to Mistledale very much, and thus didn't run it, but Raiders of Galath's Roost was excellent to run and a great Dalelands campaign starter. I was very surprised as I have never been a Skip Williams fan but he did do a good job on Raiders, IMO.
