I think the oversized weapon schtick needs to be removed or fixed somehow. It's just too much. Maybe require a racial feat or something.

I disagree. I have a minotaur in my campaign and he is FAR from screwed. He does a ton of damage with his regular sized Executioner's Axe and has been an awesome barbarian.

One idea that we're tossing around is in fact adopting the minotaur article and then including Oversized as a racial feat for minotaurs (and eventually bugbears). It lets folks who were drawn to those races for Oversized play their character as they intended, but with a reasonable cost for a powerful feature.

I just was not impressed with the charging schtick they swapped in to the minotaur in place of Oversized. Seemed too situational and weak to me. But I can see why a barbarian would enjoy some of that, seeing as they get bonus charges, I believe.

Yea. The Barbarian Minotaur is a charging machine. With Goring Charge and the ability to charge another creature if he drops one to 0 is awesome. He is definately not missing the Large weapon. And if he had it, it would make him too overpowered.

The "Play a" series has been one of my favorites in Dragon, and I hope a few (all?) make it into the Annual.

I voted for the changeling (though I agree it will likely be in ECG).

I personally have no problem with PCs playing "monsters", but I know some people have a hard time explaining why the paladin is chumming around with goblin - even if it is a 'good' goblin. Plus, more than one town guardsmen would shot first, ask questions later!

They didn't erraticize the big-weapon thing away from the minotaur, did they?

There's been no errata of the MM minotaur entry. But the Dragon article on minotaurs did remove the Oversized ability. So we in Living 4th Edition are trying to decide what it is we want to do, since our general aim is to be inclusive of the latest WotC rules.

The warforged article was approved with no issues, since it simply fleshed out and slightly bumped the power a bit. The updated gnoll article hasn't been proposed yet (no gnoll PC's probably being the reason), but we do have minotaur PCs, so an article that removes something is an issue for us.

No, just from PC minotaurs. "Monster" minotaurs still have Oversized.

Well, it's not technically errata. It's an article that presents a new PC option, while the MM "suggestions" or whatever it should be called stands as is.

(on topic) In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing the new bugbear, and I'd also like to see articles on orcs and goblins! :)

I voted for Kobold because that's what I want to see. I'd vote Bugbear because that's what we need to see. While I love my Kobolds (and Goblins), we need to get rid of large weapons in PC hands. If that's not going to happen then brutal needs to be edited to d4 d6= B1, d8 d10 d12 = B2 IMO.

Let's add another wrinkle.

Let's assume that Changelings/Doppelgangers are in the Eberron Player's guide.

Now, let's assume that, based on this poll, someone writes a "Playing Doppelgangers" article.

Do you think that WotC would turn down the article, because the Doppels will be in EPG? You don't want two contradictory sets of PC rules floating out there; you want people to buy the book to get the stats.

If they are in the Eberron Player's Guide this summer, then Dragon certainly wouldn't publish an article on them (unless it is an expansion one like the genasi information in Dragon). Given the lead time to get an article queried, approved, written, revised, edited, and posted - I don't think a Playing a Doppleganger article could appear before the Eberron Player's Guide unless it is already complete or near complete.

If they are in the EPG, I fully expect support articles for them to be out next summer (and probably in the works soon if not already), but no Playing a Doppleganger.
