Okay, which WoTC Adventure Path Series Module was the biggest deathtrap and TPK machine that sent the players shivering in fear? :] Feel free to discuss why you thought a particular module was deadly.

I vote for Lord of the Iron Fortress. We played it as a one off and thus had characters designed for the adventure. My Kobold Sorcerer dies multiple times.

Can't say, as I've only played Speaker in Dreams. There were four party deaths in the game, although at least some of those were due to our DM's somewhat... less than thorough... understanding of the rules, and the module. For instance,
as I found out later, it clearly states that there is ONE bone devil, and you can fight and kill that bone devil either at the Baron's proclamation, OR in a random encounter in the street, OR at the temple with the pillar of flame. My party encountered the bone devil atop the tower (but couldn't hurt it, with the DM autofailing our SR checks and attacks, because he didn't want to start a big battle that night -- meaning that we started next session without our biggest spells, since we hadn't realized we were wasting them in a railroaded "can't win" encounter) AND in the street (twice) AND at the pillar of flame. So we met four bone devils and had to kill three of them. That's a bit deadlier than the normal module itself...

I posted in another thread that my party just got TPKed in Forge of Fury (which is the one I voted for). Of course I have only played through Sunless Citadel and Forge of Fury so far. But I am now on my third character in Forge of Fury. My ranger, who made it through Sunless Citadel without hardly a scratch, died at the hands of the ogre in FoF. Then my sorcerer along with the rest of the party died while being grappled by the animated rug in FoF. And now I am playing a paladin and we just started combat with the dragon. So far so good, but still, a freaking dragon and we are only 5th level.

I've only run the first two, but having read all of them except Deep Horizon, my vote goes to Heart of Nightfang Spire. For the given levels that's total TPK material. And pretty badly designed on top of that. Lord of the Iron Fortress is probably the next toughest.

my group played through the Path from Sunless Citadel up through Nightfang Spire.

we had one fatality in Forge of Fury and one in Speaker in Dreams. we had IIRC around six to eight fatalities in Nightfang Spire, at a minimum.

My group made it through the first four with nobody dying. So it is hard to say (and I didn't vote). Maybe the roper could tip the scales, given the relative CR, but beyond that, I just couldn't say.

Mmmmm, Rappan Athuk... juicy good delight and full of good, nutritious and yummy poop. I love Rappan Athuk and ANYTHING from Necromancer Games tops my MUST BUY list like a whore on a politician.
