Honestly, this isn't much of a choice- all of those except Theogonia have real meanings (or at least echo real meaniings) that could easily rub someone the wrong way. I'd stay away from naming your world a real-world term.

Well, not knowing anything about the world, this is essentially random. The name of the world should reflect some part of the setting, I feel.

But going with it in a random way, I prefer Erebos, as it does not have any meaning baggage for me.

To me, Erebos evokes a frozen hellscape devoid of life or sustenance (a combination of its Greek root and Sir John Franklin's ship when he went looking for the Northwest Passage.)

Theogonia etymologically suggests "born from a god".

I prefer the former to the latter, and would not consider anything else.

First of all thank you all for taking the time to give me your opinionsYou are so right let me elaborate a bit in the world so you can have a better understanding. Our world is the result of 15 years of dnd and pathfinder games. the choices that we made led to its destruction. A small number of lucky or unlucky people are left to create a new place to make their civilization. They will be the first generation of this brand new world. The morphology of the realm has changed radically, darkness a constant that people need to get used to it,the sun exploded and the heat and needed light is provided by two different heaven objects at a non periodical intervals. Amongst the darkness and cold foul creatures are lurking for those that will be less fortunate. As for the chosen names the choices primeval and primordial make sense since this world will is brand new.nothing is saved from the last. Erebos is darkness in ancient Greek .Theogonia is the birth of gods because it is certain that new gods will arise from the ashes of the old. Tartarus was the prison of kronos the father of Zeus in ancient Greece actually it was the first introduction of hell before hades made his apearence. Gaia was the mother of Zeus and in Greek means earth. The significance of the names is that there is something behind each name it is not just a word,it bears a meaning. Thanks again for taking the time and help me out with your opinions.

If I was browsing titles looking for a new setting, I would probably reach for Erebos first. I didn't know the meaning of the word until you explained it. So my motivation was probably mostly curiosity. That been said, I would probably have just used the name Darkness.

Primordial suggested a world of oozes and primitive life forms, which has little appeal. Primeval appealed more, although I would have gone with Primal myself.

Theogania and Tartarus didn't mean anything to me. Theogonia suggested to me something based on ancient greece. Tartarus conjured images of a barren moon or asteroid for some reason in some sort of dark low-SciFi setting.

Gaia would probably have been my second pick, mostly because the word is familiar, but doesn't come with any specific connotations.

I waited for your explanation of the meaning of the names and the reference for the campaign. On that basis I went for Primodial as it is a new world. My original world is a made up greek name called Eostros.
